MY STORY
I began blacksmithing in 1995 under the direction and supervision of Frank, John and Hershel House; as well as Cousin Willie. I have studied under Hershel, John and Frank House for 4 to 5 years of my tenure. I am also a graduate of the Appalachian Blacksmith’s Associations blacksmith program, where I am also a member.
I blacksmith at my home in rural Tennessee where I also teach traditional blacksmithing and knife making. I am also the blacksmith at the Museum of Appalachia, a Smithsonian Affiliate doing demonstrations and teaching.
Jack has built a casting furnace at Tennessee Tech State College, and is experimenting with making bronze, and forging bronze and copper.
I do custom orders and I will be happy to discuss any blacksmith projects you may need. Instruction is available at my home on a daily or weekly basis. Weekly courses include meals and lodging.
